Take It Home started with a simple concept: deliver delicious healthy meals, made with local, sustainable ingredients and give back to the community in a big way. With this vision in mind, South Jersey native, Elena Ciccotelli set out to do just that. As the Founder and CEO of TrainerDiva (an in-home personal training company for women in the Philadelphia region) Elena received numerous requests from clients over the years, for easy, healthy meal solutions that would help them achieve their health and fitness goals. Healthy meal delivery, made with local ingredients and a community give-back mission, simply did not exist, which further propelled Elena to create Take It Home, not only for her personal training clients, but for the entire Greater Philadelphia region. In December 2016, through sourcing local ingredients with Fair Food Philly, the Take It Home menu was created, offering gourmet, vacuum sealed, “heat and eat” meals ready to please any palate, all while being mindful to the waistline. Elena then took it one step further and gave her customers an opportunity to fight hunger in their own neighborhood. Take It Home became an exclusive partner of the Food Bank of South Jersey in December 2016 and the Get a Meal + Give a Meal initiative was born. For every meal that is sold on the Take It Home website, Take It Home will donate a meal to the Food Bank of South Jersey. The goal for 2017 is to donate one million meals to the Food Bank of South Jersey and to raise awareness of the Food Bank’s critical mission: provide an immediate solution to hunger through food donations to needy families, teaching families how to eat nutritiously, and helping families find sustainable ways to improve their lives. Elena’s favorite quote that embodies the multi-faceted mission of Take It Home, comes from renowned Philadelphia entrepreneur, author and activist, Judy Wicks, Business is beautiful when we put our energy, creativity, and care into producing a product or service that our community needs.
Elena Ciccotelli (Founder | CEO)
A serial entrepreneur, Elena graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, magna cum laude with a BFA in Dance in 2008. Upon graduation, Elena received a Personal Fitness Trainer Certification from the American Aerobic Association International & International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA) and began her career as a personal trainer. In 2009 Elena founded and created, TrainerDiva, Inc. an in-home personal training company for women serving the women of the Greater Philadelphia region. TrainerDiva, Inc. is now a well-known fitness brand and consequently, in 2010, Elena’s work with TrainerDiva was featured in the book Me 2.0: Four Steps to Building Your Future by David Schwabel as a national case study for her achievements in brand-building through the use of social media, blogging and media recognition in a highlighted section entitled “Brand Commanders.” Through the development and practical implementation of social media marketing strategies for TrainerDiva, Inc., Elena attained an extensive social media marketing background and knowledge base. Elena’s natural ability to connect with customers, her deep knowledge of fitness and nutrition, her passion for food and most recently her newfound talent for mobile marketing, has made Take It Home the perfect next step in her entrepreneurial career. Elena is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and was also named one of Cambridge's Who's Who for Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs.
John F. Possumato, Esq. (Partner)
Throughout his career, John has founded or managed seven start-up/early stage companies, many concentrated in automotive retail or fleet industry. Highlights in his start-up career include: creating the first mobile marketing technology "incubator" that has created a number of new, innovative mobile marketing tools primarily for automotive retailers. John has conceived and created the first "upstream remarketing" online automotive redistribution process and platform for commercial fleet lessors and corporate users and also founded one of the first commercial real estate focused high speed Internet distribution companies in the telecommunications service industry. A licensed attorney in Pennsylvania, John earned his law degree and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The University of Pennsylvania. Although this is John's first food venture, his appetite for a new challenge and his skills at initiating, negotiating and codifying partnership agreements between business organizations has already proved to be invaluable during Take It Home's start up stage.
Nick Ciccotelli (Chef | Culinary Director)
A life-long lover of all things culinary, Nick graduated from the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community college with an Associate’s Degree and has spent the last ten years at Whole Foods Market (Marlton, NJ and Philadelphia, PA locations) thriving as a Team Leader and Kitchen Supervisor in the Prepared Foods department. He single handedly orchestrated high-end catering for Philadelphia professional sports teams (such as the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and Flyers) and implemented best practices for organic procedures throughout the store. Nick’s professional career has also included sous chef positions for a number of fine dining restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia area such as the Striped Bass in Center City Philadelphia, Anthony’s Creative Italian Cuisine in Haddon Heights, NJ, The Café at Rosemont in Stockton, NJ and the Fish House in Lambertville, NJ. Nick is passionate about using local sustainable ingredients and also specializes in customized menu planning and food preparation for individuals with specific dietary needs. Nick brings a commitment to culinary excellence to the Take It Home team and believes that healthy cooking enhances every aspect of a well-balanced life. Nick’s goal is to help bring families together around the dinner table with his creative and delicious meals.
